Metta (Lovingkindness) Meditation Series

4 weeks on Thursdays from 7:30-8:30 PM

10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9

Breathing Yoga 7 Hill Rd., Redding, CT

Metta meditation was my first meditation practice. Metta is a Pali word for lovingkindess. During Metta meditation, people are amazed to find out that they have a capacity for lovingkindness, both for themselves and for others. We’ll practice a few relaxing yoga postures and deep breathing to prepare our minds for meditation. Beginners are welcome and encouraged to attend. This class is appropriate for teens and adults. The series cost is $60, $55 if you register by Sunday 10/15. Register below. The deadline is 10/17. Minimum registration of 4 students is needed for the series to run. Please invite your friends. Space is limited.

TESTIMONIALS

Barbara is an expert guide and compassionate teacher who has helped me profoundly to make meditation a steady part of my life. The benefits have been truly countless – from healing my physical body to steadying my mind and nurturing my spirit. When I first started the meditation series a couple of years ago, I was completely new to meditation. I knew it was something I wanted to try but I didn’t really know where to begin. Barbara warmly welcomed me and the other students into her beautiful living room where together we embarked on a meditative journey. She led us with her extensive knowledge and inspired each of us to create our own meditative practice. I highly recommend Barbara’s meditation series – it is truly a special experience.

“Yoga and Meditation with Barbara Templeton, following surgery and treatment for breast cancer, has made me aware that crazy schedules, work, and life in general, create stress that I can manage . I have learned that if I don’t take care of myself I won’t have the health and energy I need to accomplish anything. I’ve gained self worth. I never realized that by joining her meditation series I would learn skills that allow me to fall asleep at night without any sleep aids, be a nicer mom/wife, and make my own work environment a healthier place without ever changing the surroundings or people in them. I have a tool now that I can pull out of my box anytime I need it and it’s one size fits all. Who could have ever imagined. I didn’t. I feel so blessed to have yoga and meditation in my repertoire for “keeping my sanity.”

Breathing Yoga 7 Hill Rd., Redding, CT 06896

When I was living in California I attended a Meditation Group at a tiny apartment in Laguna Beach. 20 or more of us squeezed into this small space. All eyes and ears were on our teacher. We shined like jewels around a dazzling centerpiece as we practiced. I couldn’t stay away. The practice transformed me and I always dreamed of starting my own sangha. (community of practitioners)

Now is the time to shine! Please join us. No experience is required and new and returning students are welcome.

During this meditation series we’ll discover a few different techniques in a comfortable environment. We’ll also practice a few yoga stretches to prepare our minds for meditation. You’ll see what your preferences might be. Chairs are available.
