Set Your Spring Intention with Yoga Nidra

It’s been a few months since we’ve practiced yoga nidra together and that’s way too long, especially given all of the major events and unexpected changes that have happened.  Stress levels continue to be high for all human bodies, regardless of where you live on the planet.

Yoga Nidra is a yoga practice that is suitable for everyone, all the time.  At it’s worst it offers a nice nap.  But, at it’s best, you get to experience transformation and deep healing, the by-products of extended deep relaxation.

The practice falls into the category of pratyahara, one of the 8 limbs of yoga.  Pratyahara practices enable us to experience life beyond the 5 senses, which theoretically will help us with our desires, cravings, and attachments.  During yoga nidra, we minimize sensory input as best we can, which then allows the subtle body to become more aware of itself.  But, one doesn’t need to know or understand any of this to experience the long lasting benefits.  Gift yourself this workshop.  You’ll be so glad you did.

Develop Peace of Mind ☯ Restore Your Health
Establish Harmony ☯ Release and Relax

Please join Barbara Templeton in an asana and yoga nidra relaxation workshop and experience complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Developed by Swami Satyananda Saraswati, yoga nidra is a form of tantra.Yoga nidra is not sleeping nor is it concentration. During yoga nidra you “open the inner chambers of your mind by stepping down into the internal dimension of your consciousness and opening the doorway to samadhi (bliss).” Now more than ever we are subjected to greater levels of stress and strain and we all know that distress (negative stress) causes disease.

This powerful technique has been proven to:

☯Prevent and cure stress related diseases such as heart disease

☯ Improve memory
☯Transform one’s nature
☯ Release muscular, mental and emotional tensions

Special Event

108 Sun Salutations at Redding Community Center to help “Share the Warmth”
Sunday, December 20, 2015 at 4:30 pm
The practice of Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskaras) honors the change of seasons and the transitions of nature’s sun and earth energy. These Surya Namaskaras also help remove toxins in the body as spring arrives and we cleanse. Surya means sun and namaskar comes from the root word which means “not mine”. We honor the significance of the sun, the light of the world and our primary source of heat.
Why 108? This number has long been considered a sacred number…
Traditionally, malas are strung with 108 beads.
According to yogic tradition, there are 108 pithas or sacred sites in India.
There are 108 Upanishads.
There are 108 marma points or sacred places on the body.
108 is the number of names for Shiva in Hindu philosophy.
All are welcome. You can do 1 Surya Namaskara or 108. Or just sit and breathe and enjoy the energy of the group.
This event is by donation only. Donations go to~“Share The Warmth” campaign, in Redding, CT.
(Note: we will be offering online sign-up and donation. Otherwise, the day of, only checks and cash will be accepted.)
